Baked Quinoa Breakfast Cereal


  • 1 cup quinoa
  • ¼ cup flax seed
  • 1 tbsp canola oil
  • 2 tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • Cooking spray


Preheat your oven to 350 fahreit and lighty coat a baking sheet with cooking spray. Rinse the quinoa well and drain thoroughly (unless you’re using quinoa which has been pre-rinsed), then add to a large bowl with the rest of the ingredients. Stir until well combined and spread out the mixure on the baking sheet, forming as thin of layer as possible. Bake until golden brown, about 15 – 17 minutes, stirring every 5 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow it to cool completely before serving. This can be stored in a covered airtight container once it has cooled to room temperature.

Five Spice Quinoa


  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup quinoa, rinsed and drained
  • 1 beef bouillon cube
  • 1 ½ tbsp butter
  • 1 tbsp five spice powder
  • ½ tsp powdered gingerblack pepper, to taste


Place all of the ingredients except fot the quinoa in a saucepan and bring to a boil, stirring until the bouillon cube is dissolved. Add the quinoa, reduce the heat to a simmer, cover and cook for about 20 minutes or until the quinoa has absorbed all of the liguid and is tender.[pm]
